A shimmering marble-and-gold palace built by the Hare Krishna community in the Appalachian hills.
Begun in 1973 as a simple home for movement founder A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, the Palace of Gold grew into an ornate structure of inlaid marble, stained glass, and gold leaf set among rose gardens. Called one of America's most beautiful places, it overlooks the rolling ridges of New Vrindaban.
